Sheet Metal Panels

Architectural wall and roof panels can be shaped from sheets of steel, aluminum, stainless or copper. These sheets can then be cut, formed, screwed or riveted using hand or power tools. For the most part these panels will fall into four major categories: standing seam, flush, corrugated and lap style. Also available are various styles of shingles.

The material most commonly used for these applications is a pre-finished 24 gauge steel. Other materials include paint grip, galvanized, "galvalume", copper, stainless steel and oxidizing steel.

The most widely accepted material is a pre-finished sheet with a Kynarİ based paint, a member of the Teflonİ family. This material is maintenance free and is available with a smooth or stucco embossed texture. This material gives designers a palate of colors that are highly resistant to the problems caused by ultra-violet rays such as fading, peeling, checking, etc.

Although this material lacks structural integrity and tends to deflect or "oil can", there are advantages. Panels made from a thin sheet metal can be easily formed by break or roll forming, providing the customer with the most economical application.
